What is Nano-Stroke?

Nano Stroke is the latest eyebrow technique in the permanent make up beauty industry. It is a hybrid form of innovative microblading procedure. It is a technique that uses a specialized permanent make up device known as digital micro needle to create and draw the hair-like strokes which mimic natural brow hair. A very fine micro needle deposit the cleanest semi-permanent make-up pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. Super-fine soft strokes resembling the look of natural brow hairs, creating a defined eyebrow look.

How long does the Nano-Stroke procedure take?

The entire procedure usually takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. At Ruby Lashes & Brows, Nano Stroke procedures are applied with the highest precision and care to mimic the look of the most natural and super realistic brow hairs.

Is Nano-Stroke painful?

Nano Stroke procedures do not impact the eyebrow skin and usually lead to a speedier recovery. Due to the fine micro needle, there will be a slight burning sensation on the skin. In particular, the Nano Stroke technique applies a lighter needling intensity thus resulting in the engraving closing quickly following the procedures.

FAQ - Brows: Microblading

Here are some commonly asked questions. If you still have questions after reading our FAQ please feel free to reach out to us.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a process that involves tiny, fine point needles that make up asmal blade and handle to scratch and deposit
pigment simultaneausly under your skin. The result? Realistic looking brow hairs that don't wash off.

Is Microblading a tattoo?

Sort of, unlike tattoos that last forever, microblading si a form of semi-permanent tattooing. The pigment used for microblading eventually fades away, and the dye particles are less concentrated than the ink of a traditional tattoo.

How long does microblading last?

I usualy lasts 13- years depending on your skin type. However, a tuouch is required between 6-8 weeks to ensure
the brows are precise and to make any adjustments. After the
first touch-up, you typically don't need another one for 12 months

Is microblading painful?

Although the procedure can take upward of 2 • hours, most people report only feeling minor pressure or discomfort and less
pain than atypical tattoo due to the use of anumbing cream.

Is a blade used to perform the microblading procedure?

Microblading is performed with a grouping or configuration of needles affixed to a handle to manually create lines that resemble eyebrow hairs. Manual methods of tattooing have been used through the ages, and the tools have gone through changes over time from pre-historic sharpened stones ot the hand tool devices currently being used. An actual scalpel or cutting-type blade should not be used under any circumstances as these are considered medical devices and cannot legitimately be used for this process. Any hand tool device (i.e., both handle and attached needles) used for microblading should be pre-sterilized and fully disposable.

Am I a good candidate for permanent makeup / microblading?

Those with very oily skin are ineligible for microblading. Powder brows are recommended for this skin type. Those with less oily or combination skin, may consider a combination of microblading and powder effect, known as combo brows.

FAQ - Lashes

Here are some commonly asked questions. If you still have questions after reading our FAQ please feel free to reach out to us.

How to take care of your lash extensions?

  • Try not to touch them much, particularly during the first few hours. The more you touch them, the more oils from your fingers get on them, the more strain on the lash root etc.

  • Keep them as dry as possible for at least 24 hours.

  • Make sure you are using oil-free products on your face, particularly eye makeup removers and cleansers.

  • Clean them properly, at least a few times a week with a foaming lash cleanser. Baby shampoo (not the conditioning type) in very small amounts is ok too.

  • Do not play with or pick at your lashes, rub your eyes roughly. If you are a picker, it can really damage your natural lashes

  • Do not use oil based products on your eyes

  • Do not use waterproof or oil based mascara or eyeliner

  • Do not use any mascara if you can help it

  • Do not use baby wipes/makeup wipes/cotton pads to wipe makeup off them

  • Do not try to remove them yourself – as it may damage your natural lashes. We can remove them for you if you wish

How often should you get your lashes filled?

Extensions will shed with your natural hair growth cycle, which is typically every six to eight weeks," says Richardson. "Refills are a great way to extend the life of your lashes and are recommended every two to three weeks.

Can I get my lash extensions wet?

It is recommended to wait 24 hours before getting your lashes wet.

Will cleaning my lashes make them fall out faster?

No. Cleaning away unwanted oils and heavy makeup will keep the natural lashes holding your extensions stay strong and healthy and avoid unnecessary lash shedding.

Can I use oil based makeup remover on my lashes?

It is not recommended to use oil based make up remover on your lashes. Oil-based removers will weaken the extensions and cause them to break and shed.

Can I use mascara and lash curlers on my lash extensions?

Should I clean my lashes prior to my appointment?

We advise against mascara and eyelash curlers on your lash extensions.

Eyelash extensions work best on bare, clean lashes to prolong the lifespan of the lashes. If you're coming from work or brunch, you will need to remove your eye makeup, including mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow (best with non oil-based makeup removal as it can dissolve lash glue), and do not use an eyelash curler.

How often should I touch up my lashes?

Naturally, you will lose your extension lashes over time due to your eyelash growth cycle regardless of how careful you treat your lashes. To ensure the longer lifespan of your lashes, it is suggested that you should go for a touch-up session every 3 weeks.

Who is not suitable for lash extensions?

Clients with conditions such as alopecia, or those who have lost lashes due to chemotherapy, may not have enough natural lashes for a successful extension application. If you have an eye condition where the eye does not look healthy or have an adhesive or latex allergy, you are probably not a candidate for eyelash extensions. Consult with your ophthalmologist for a recommendation or stop in for a consultation. In order to apply lash extensions, you must have healthy, natural lashes.

What are some risks and complications of lash extensions?

The procedure does come with risks, namely: trauma to or infection of the eyelid or cornea; allergic reaction to the glue; and permanent or temporary loss of eyelashes. Infection can come from inadequate hygiene in the shop or damage to the eye during application.

I have very little natural lashes, will I be able to do lash extensions?

Yes, you can still get lash extensions even if you have no lashes. Lash extensions are individually applied to each natural lash, so having no lashes does not prevent you from getting them.

I'm not sure which lash type I should go for yet, must I decide now during booking and can I change my mind at the appointment upon consultation?

Please contact us for a lash consultation before booking your appointment. We will help you select a lash style that suits you best.
